Virat Kohli it’s a LPI legend and holds an elite record as the only player to have represented a franchise in every season. Bengaluru Real Challengers The RCB batsman joined the franchise in the 2008 draft as a rookie. Despite his initial struggles, RCB backed Virat and retained him ahead of the 2011 IPL mega auction.
Virat became their full-time captain in 2013. Since Virat has been playing for RCB since 2008, he has had a long rivalry with all the opponents in the T20 league.
Speaking to Star Sports, Virat spoke about the IPL and picked his best rival. Virat picked Knights of Calcutta (KKR) ahead of Mumbai Indians (MI) as their favourite opponent in the IPL.
Virat was part of the first IPL match between RCB and KKR, which was played on April 18, 2008. The Sourav Gaguly-led team amassed a total of 222 on the board. RCB were bowled out for 82. Virat was dismissed for 1 off 5 balls.
Virat played his first IPL match against Mumbai Indians on April 20. He scored 23 off 14 balls as RCB chased down the target of 166. RCB has never faced MI or KKR in an IPL final.
Virat has played 34 matches against KKR and has scored 962 runs. His tally includes one century and six half-centuries. He has scored 855 runs in 33 matches against Mumbai Indians. Virat has five half-centuries against MI.
The Indian legend is the leading run-scorer in the IPL. He has scored 8004 runs in 252 matches. Virat’s total includes 8 hundreds and 55 half-centuries. Virat has played 3 IPL finals for RCB but has never won the elusive trophy.
It is almost set that Virat Kohli will continue his association with RCB and the franchise will retain him ahead of the mega IPL 2025 auction. Virat has always been their first choice to retain him.
