Who is Paetongtarn Shinawatra?

Paetongtarn Shinawatra, born 21 August 1986, has been the leader of the Pheu Thai Party since 2023. Known by her nickname Ung Ing, Paetongtarn is the youngest daughter of billionaire tycoon Thaksin Shinawatra and is the third member of the family after her father and aunt to hold the nation’s highest office.

She attended Saint Joseph Convent School and Mater Dei School. Shinawatra graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a major in Sociology and Anthropology from the Faculty of Political Science at Chulalongkorn University in 2008. She is the largest shareholder of SC Asset Corporation and a director of Thaicom Foundation.
