Army personnel deployed in Pune
Army personnel have been deployed in flooded residential areas of the city following heavy rains and release of water from Khadakwasla dam in Pune, Maharashtra. In view of the release of water from Khadakwasla, Mulshi, Pavana and other dams in Pune region, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has asked officials to remain alert. Apart from this, it has also been directed that if required, steps should be taken to evacuate people from hazardous areas to safe places with the help of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Army. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that following the release of water from Khadakwasla, Mulshi, Pavana and other dams in Pune region, people in potentially at-risk areas and people living within the flood line of dams and rivers should be evacuated to safe places.
35,000 cusecs of water released from Khadakwasla Dam
On Sunday, 35,000 cusecs (cubic feet per second) of water was released from Khadakwasla dam in Pune district following heavy rains in the catchment areas over the past fortnight. Army personnel have been deployed at Dwarka Society on Sinhagarh Road (Ekta Nagar area) where there is a waterlogging situation. There has been heavy rains in the Ghat area of Pune district for the past two days.
