Superstar Mohanlal hospitalized for shortness of breath | People News

Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is admitted to a private hospital in Kochi after complaining of fever and difficulty in breathing. The actor returned to Kochi after the shoot of big-budget action film ‘L2 Empuraan’, scheduled for Gujarat.

He was also involved in the post-production work of his directorial debut ‘Barroz’. The hospital said Mohanlal needs five days of complete rest and should avoid crowded places until he recovers completely.

Amrita Hospital Kochi, in a statement issued on Sunday, said, “I hereby certify that I have examined Mr Mohanlal, male, 64 years, MRD No 1198168. He has complaints of high fever, shortness of breath and generalised myalgia. He is suspected to have a viral respiratory infection. He has been advised to take medicines on a five-day off basis and to avoid crowded places.”

In his four-decade career, Mohanlal has acted in over 400 films. He received the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan, India’s highest civilian awards, in 2001 and 2019 respectively.

He is also a lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army. He has won five national awards including two for best performance, a special jury mention and a special jury award for performance as well as another award as producer of the best film. He has also won the Kerala State Film Awards for best actor nine times.

Mohanlal has also acted in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films. Mohanlal’s directorial debut ‘Barroz’ is set to release on October 2, just before the start of the nine-day Navratri festival this year. It was earlier scheduled to release on March 28, 2024, but the film’s team decided to postpone it citing delays in post-production.
