Haryana Schools Closed on July 31: Haryana Government has announced a holiday in all government and private schools tomorrow on the occasion of Shaheed Udham Singh Martyrdom Day on Tuesday. A holiday has been declared in all government and private schools on the martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh. According to media reports, in a notice issued by a leading school, it is said that there will be a holiday on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 to commemorate Shaheed Udham Singh Martyrdom Day declared by the Haryana government.

Know about Shaheed Udham Singh Martyrdom Day

This day is celebrated to remember the history of Jallianwala Bagh massacre, because this massacre changed the life of Shaheed Udham Singh. At that time General Dyer was ordered to fire on the crowd. Martyr Udham Singh had murdered O’Dwyer. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. On 31 July 1940, Singh was hanged by Albert Pierrepoint at Pentonville Prison. Punjab and Haryana celebrate Shaheed Udham Singh Martyrdom Day to pay tribute to him.

Due to this, schools are also closed in Ghaziabad and Haridwar.

Apart from this, due to Kanwar Yatra, schools in Ghaziabad and Haridwar will remain closed from July 27 to August 2, 2024. In the coming days, thousands of devotees from across the state will come to Dudeshwar Nath temple in Ghaziabad during the Kanwar Yatra. Similarly, schools in Haridwar too will remain closed due to huge crowd of Shiva devotees during Kanwar Yatra. As per the order, all government and non-government schools and Anganwadi centres from classes 1 to 12 in the district will remain closed from July 27 to August 2, 2024. Apart from these cities, schools in Noida will also remain closed from July 31 to August 2 due to Kanwar Yatra. Classes will be held in online mode.
