Nikhil Kamath rides ₹18 lakh bike with Rhea Chakraborty, sparks outrage over insurance expiration

In videos that went viral earlier this week, Kamath was seen riding a Suzuki Intruder VZR 1800 ZL2 In Bandra, he was wearing a jacket, shorts, helmet and face mask. Chakraborty, who was riding pillion, was also seen chatting with Kamath.

Social media users were quick to take note of the motorcycle’s registration number, leading one X user to discover that the vehicle’s insurance had expired in July 2023. The user also confirmed that Kamath, who lives in Bengaluru, is the original owner of the motorcycle, dismissing speculation that the vehicle had been rented. The user advised Kamath to renew the insurance quickly.

The Suzuki Intruder VZR 1800 ZL2, also known as the Suzuki Intruder M1800R in some markets, is part of Suzuki’s popular cruiser series of motorcycles. Though discontinued, the model was priced between ₹15.95 lakh and ₹16.45 lakh in India, with the on-road price reaching up to ₹18 lakh. CarInfo app records show that Kamath registered the motorcycle in Bengaluru in April 2012.

Nikhil Kamath, who co-founded brokerage firm Zerodha with his brother Nithin Kamath in 2010, became India’s youngest billionaire thanks to his entrepreneurship. Apart from Zerodha, Kamath co-founded asset management firm True Beacon in 2020 and is also known for hosting a popular podcast.
