Highlights of the PFC-supported anatomy lab include:

  • State-of-the-art facility:The laboratory is designed to use and develop advanced technology for effective teaching and learning, particularly for the innovative Bachelor of Medical Sciences and Engineering programme. This facility represents a pioneering step in the integration of high-tech methods into undergraduate medical education.
  • First of its kind in India: In an innovative initiative, IIT Madras has created a dry anatomy laboratory that meets the standards of medical colleges. This laboratory will provide a unique learning environment, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in anatomy, a field that traditionally relies on more conventional methods.
  • Fostering innovation: The creation of this facility will inspire students to generate innovative and disruptive product ideas. PFC hopes that the experience in this state-of-the-art laboratory will lead to the development of indigenous products, reducing the country’s dependence on imports and contributing to self-sufficiency in the medical field.

Professor Mahesh Panchagnula, Dean, Corporate and Alumni Relations, IIT Madras, thanked PFC for its generous contribution and said, “We are deeply grateful to Power Finance Corporation Limited for their generous support in establishing this state-of-the-art undergraduate anatomy laboratory at the Department of Medical Sciences and Technology, IIT Madras.
