Yash Dayal expressed his gratitude to Virat Kohli for supporting him during the Indian Premier League (LPI). Dayal had a challenging season with the Gujarat Titans in 2023. In a match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the Titans needed to defend 29 runs in the last over but Dayal conceded five consecutive sixes off Rinku Singh at the Narendra Modi Stadium as KKR cruised to a famous win.

“The most important thing he (Kohli) told me was that he would back me throughout the season. He told me that I wouldn’t feel like I had come to a new place and he backed me completely. So this was a big boost and he talks to youngsters in a very healthy way and it’s nothing like what people talk about on TV. I don’t feel like that,” Dayal told Sports Tak.
He played a crucial role in RCB reaching the playoffs last season. In 14 matches, he took 15 wickets at an economy rate of 9.14. He was also the joint-highest wicket-taker in the Challengers alongside Mohammed Siraj.
However, Dayal rose to the occasion and helped Kohli’s team secure a six-match winning streak that took them to the final. IPL 2024 playoffs. Their journey concluded with a loss to Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator. In total, Dayal has picked up 53 wickets in 56 T20 matches, maintaining an economy rate of 8.4.
