Ahead of next month’s two World Cup qualifiers, the Albiceleste decided to give their star player more time considering his age. It could be a precautionary measure, as Argentina have important players at their disposal who could inflict a defeat on their opponents at any time.
Argentina will host Chile on September 5 at the Más Monumental in Buenos Aires. They will then travel to Colombia to play their second match on September 10 at the Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla.
Argentina currently leads the World Cup qualification with 12 points. The top six CONMEBOL teams will automatically qualify for the World Cup, while the seventh-place team will have another chance and participate in the playoffs.
