‘Jaanleva’: A Delhi street vendor makes mango momos and the internet reacts to it

The culinary capital, known for its culinary experiments, has a new food trend that has left even the most adventurous food lovers stunned. A vendor in Delhi He has taken the humble momo to new, and some might say strange, heights by creating a dish that combines momos with mangoes, much to the chagrin of the Internet.

The unusual recipe, shared by a food vlogger, shows the vendor frying ready-made momos before drizzling them with a sauce made from fresh mango slices and an entire bottle of Maaza, a popular mango drink. The dish is then spiced with red chilli powder and cooked with a generous amount of cream. Once the sauce thickens, the momos are added back in and the dish is garnished with more cream.

The vendor credits another momo seller, Sikander, who had already gone viral for his momo omelette, with the creation. According to the vendor, Sikander’s viral success inspired him to push the boundaries of traditional momo recipes.

However, the internet has not taken kindly to this culinary experiment. Social media users have flooded the video’s comments section with negative comments. “RIP Momos,” seems to be the general consensus, with one user commenting: “I won’t forgive this generation whoever tries it.”

Another person, who claimed to have tried the dish, was not impressed and said, “It’s not good, I have already tried it.” The outcry did not stop there, with one commenter sarcastically suggesting, “Bhai, thoda Harpic bhi daaldo [Please add some Harpic to the mix]. The dish has even been dubbed “Jaanleva momos.” [Poisonous momos]” by others.

This is not the first time Delhi has witnessed strange experiments with momo. Sikander, the inspiration behind mango momo, had earlier garnered attention for creating a momo omelette, a dish he says was born out of his daughter’s love for momos.
