IIT Madras Scholarship Programs Every Engineering Aspirant Should Know About, Check Out The List Here

1. Merit and means scholarship from the Institute

The Institute’s Academic Merit Scholarship, as stated on the official website of IIT Madras, is awarded to 25 percent of admitted students. The institution states that renewal of the scholarship every semester is subject to a minimum grade point average of 5.0 in the previous semester. The scholarship offers a 67 percent tuition fee waiver.

Eligibility: Annual income of parents should not exceed Rs.4,50,000.

2. Establish free scholarships

Another scholarship is the Institute Free Scholarship, which also offers a 67 percent tuition fee waiver. It is available to 25 percent of the admitted students and renewal of the scholarship each semester is subject to a minimum GPA of 5.0 in the previous semester, as set by IIT Madras.

Eligibility: To be eligible, the applicant’s parents must have an annual income not exceeding Rs.4,50,000.

3. Nominal prize of the Institute

The Institute’s Notional Award is given to 7 per cent of the admitted students and provides a one-time grant of Rs.1000.

Eligibility: Eligibility is based on rank in JEE and annual income of parents not exceeding Rs.4,50,000.

4. SC/ST Institute Scholarship:

The SC/ST scholarship of the Institute offers free meals and an allowance of Rs 250 per month, apart from tuition fee waiver. Renewal of the scholarship every semester is subject to a minimum GPA of 5.0 in the previous semester, the institution says.

Eligibility: Annual income of parents should not exceed Rs.4,50,000.

5. Girish Ready Scholarship

The Girish Reddy Scholarship provides 25,000 annually and the renewal of the scholarship in subsequent years is subject to a minimum GPA of 8 in the previous semester.

Eligibility: This scholarship has two eligibility conditions:

  • Based on highest JEE rank and parental income not exceeding Rs.5,00,000 (two scholarships).
  • On the basis of best overall performance in the previous school years and annual income of parents not exceeding Rs.5,00,000 (one scholarship).

6. Indian Women’s Association Scholarship in Bonn

The Bonn Indian Women’s Association offers scholarships for 1,250 per month for a B.Tech student for 12 months only.

Eligibility: To avail this scholarship, applicants will be verified based on rank in JEE and annual income of parents up to 5 lakhs.

7. Sri V Ranga Raju Memorial Scholarship

The Sri V Ranga Raju Memorial Scholarship provides Rs 500 per month to a B.Tech student for 4 years. Renewal of the scholarship every semester is subject to a minimum GPA of 5.0, the institution says.

Eligibility: Based on merit and means. Annual income of parents up to Rs. 5 lakhs.
If the MCM is equal for applicants, preference will be given to students from rural areas.

8. Kanchi Kamakoti Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Endowment Award

The Kanchi Kamakoti Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Endowment Award provides for a one-time payment of Rs 2,500, as stated on the IIT Madras website.

Eligibility: Availability of this scholarship will be based on merit and financial means. Also, the annual income of the parents should be up to Rs. 5.5 lakhs.

9. M Sankaraiah and M Saradha Scholarship (Mithigiri)

The M Sankaraiah and M Saradha (Mithigiri) Scholarship is another scholarship offered by IIT Madras to meritorious students. It provides a one-time monetary aid of 20,000.

Eligibility: This is available to B.Tech/Electrical Engineering dual degree students and is based on the highest GPA at the end of the fourth semester.

10. Dr. K Vasanth Rau Scholarship

The Dr. K Vasanth Rau Scholarship envisages 25,000 per year to a student for the entire duration of the program.

Eligibility: The scholarship is based on JEE rank and parental income up to Rs. 5.50 lakhs. It can be renewed with a GPA of 6.5 or above.
