Bangalore: A couple had a traumatic experience after their vehicle was attacked by a bike-borne assailant in Bengaluru on August 19. The incident took place around 10:30 pm near Doddakannalli on Sarjapur Road. A video of the incident also went viral in which a man who was on a bike and allegedly drunk, is seen threatening a couple who were inside a car and forcing the man to get out.
The man inside the car is seen trying to tell him to calm down as there was a baby inside. However, the accused did not back down and continued threatening. It can be seen in the video that the man threatening was holding a large rock in his hand.
Although other people around him tried to control the accused, he continued to threaten the couple. Moments later, he ripped off one of the car’s windscreen wipers and smashed the vehicle’s windscreen.
Many screams can be heard in the video because the woman and child were traumatized by the attack.
The defendants reportedly became angry after the couple made a U-turn without signaling.
“What’s happening on Sarjapur Road? A family in a car is being attacked by bike-borne assailants! Please help! The incident happened at 10:30 pm at 1522, Doddakannelli Junction. The couple has just reached the police station!” read a post published by Citizens Movement, East Bengaluru on X.
“A drunken biker, believed to be a bouncer at a pub in Koramangala, rammed into a family’s car and then aggressively confronted them, asking why they had stopped. The incident escalated when he smashed the car’s windscreen, injuring a seven-month-old child inside. The latter part of the incident was captured on video. The attacker remains in custody and now faces attempted murder charges,” it said in another post.
Bengaluru city police responded to the incident saying that they had arrested the accused and further investigation into the case was underway.
