PM Modi leaves for historic visit to Ukraine and Poland, weeks after his visit to Russia

New Delhi: Prime minister Narendra Modi He set out on his journey in the early hours of the morning for a historic visit to war-torn Ukraine and Poland on Wednesday, August 21.

In the first leg of his visit, Modi will travel to Poland for a two-day visit. From Warsaw, the Polish capital, he will travel to kyiv.

The Prime Minister will first visit Poland on August 21-22 and then head to kyiv on August 23, the Ministry of External Affairs said on its website. It is noteworthy that this will be the Prime Minister’s first visit to Poland after a gap of 45 years. 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Poland.

Before his visit to the Ukrainian capital, kyiv, Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Wednesday he said he looked forward to sharing insights with the president. Volodymyr Zelensky on a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine.

“I look forward to the opportunity to build on previous discussions with President Zelensky on strengthening bilateral cooperation and sharing perspectives on the peaceful resolution of the current conflict in Ukraine,” he said.

“As a friend and partner, we look forward to a speedy return of peace and stability in the region,” he added.

Meanwhile, PM Modi will visit war-torn Ukraine for the first time since Moscow’s invasion of kyiv. It will also be the first visit to Ukraine by an Indian prime minister since diplomatic relations were established between the two countries in 30 years. The Indian prime minister will travel to the Ukrainian capital kyiv on a train called “Rail Force One” which will take around ten hours to travel there and back.
