National Career Service: Jobs posted on government portal tripled to 10.9 million in fiscal year 2024

Jobs The number of jobs listed on the government’s job portal tripled to 10.9 million in FY24 from 3.48 million in 2022-23, official data showed.

This was the largest mobilization of vacancies carried out by the National Career Service portal in any year since its launch in 2015.

The number of job applicants shortlisted through the portal, which is maintained by the Ministry of Labor and Employmentincreased 53% to 8.72 million in FY24 from 5.72 million in FY23.

“Last year’s annual data shows an increase in job creation, which is a sign of a booming economy,” said a senior government official.

The highest number of vacancies was recorded in the Financial and insurance sector at 4.66 million in 2023-24, compared with 1.99 million in 2022-23. This was followed by operations and support jobs by 1.44 million in FY24 (0.37 million in FY23), civil and construction sector at 1.17 million (9,396), other service activities at 1.07 million (0.35 million) and manufacturing at 0.68 million (0.11 million), the data showed.

According to the data, 6.88 million jobs posted were for job seekers of Grade 12, 2.70 million for job seekers of Grade 10 and below, 0.73 million for graduates, 0.40 million for ITI and diploma holders and 60,531 jobs for job seekers of Postgraduate and above, indicating increased demand for low-skilled and low-paid jobs.
