Badlapur rape case: Noted advocate Ujjwal Nikam, who has so far sentenced 628 accused to life imprisonment and 37 death row in serious cases like terrorism and rape, will appear as the government counsel in the Badlapur case. This announcement has been made by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis himself. The Deputy CM’s office posted on Twitter, “Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the inquiry into the unfortunate incident at Badlapur will be conducted expeditiously and the matter will go to fast-track court. For this, it has been decided to appoint senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam as the special government counsel.”

Terrorist Kasab was hanged

Ujjwal Nikam has already achieved success in many high-profile cases with his powerful arguments. He got Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist caught in the 26/11/2008 Mumbai terror attacks, hanged. Kasab, who was a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, was hanged in Pune’s Yerwada jail in November 2012.
