Haryana Assembly election: Haryana recruitment process results halted until Assembly elections

This follows a complaint filed by Congress MP Jairam Rameshalleging violation of Model Code of Conduct in the recruitment process for 5600 vacancies for the post of Constable in Haryana Police, 76 posts of TGT and PTI by Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) and recruitment for various posts by Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC).

The Commission also sought a detailed report from the state government. After verifying the facts from the government, the Commission did not find any violation in the ongoing recruitment process by HSSC and SPSC, as per the extant instructions of MCC.

The Commission has determined that the selection process was initiated before the announcement of the election dates and was therefore in compliance with the current MCC instructions. It noted that the legal authorities can continue with their work.

However, in order to maintain a level playing field and ensure that no undue advantage is gained to anyone, the Commission has directed that the announcement of the results of these recruitments by the competent authorities (HSSC and HPSC) shall not be published till the completion of the assembly elections in the state.
Haryana will vote on October 1 and the results will be announced on October 4. The state is currently ruled by the BJP with Nayab Singh Saini as its chief minister. The BJP emerged as the single largest party with 40 seats in the 90-seat Assembly. Unable to breach the majority mark of 46, it formed a post-poll alliance with the Jananayak Janata Party, which had won 10 seats, and independent candidates. The alliance lasted only till March 2024, but the BJP continued in power after a vote of confidence.
