Air India on Wednesday announced that it has started providing wireless in-flight entertainment service on its existing wide-body aircraft until modernization is completed.

Many passengers have complained of malfunctions and in-flight entertainment systems on some planes of the Tata Group-owned airline, which is in the process of modernising its ageing fleet and adding new aircraft.

The new in-flight entertainment service “Vista”, which was recently introduced on its wide-body fleet, will also be available on narrow-body aircraft. It will not be available on the new B777 and A350 aircraft, according to a statement.

Vista has been introduced into the existing widebody fleet to provide customers with uninterrupted entertainment until the modernisation, he added.

Air India’s new wide-body aircraft feature a new in-flight entertainment system. The airline has an operational fleet of 140 aircraft.

With Vista, passengers will be able to stream content on their personal electronic devices and there will also be a live map display for flight tracking.
