A man takes matters into his own hands and climbs a pole to restore electricity

Mahabubabad, Telangana: This year, monsoon rains are breaking multi-year records and with it, the problem of power cuts has worsened across the country. An interesting case occurred in Mahabubabad, Telangana, where a man, fed up with calling the authorities, took matters into his own hands to resolve the power outage.

The incident occurred in the town of Bayyaram, where residents were left without electricity for more than seven hours, with no communication or assistance from the local electricity department.

As temperatures rose and essential services were disrupted, frustration among the local community reached a boiling point. The lack of response from authorities led one resident to take the risky step of restoring power himself. The man climbed a nearby power pole and manually reconnected the power supply, successfully restoring electricity to the area.

Bharatiya Rashtra Samiti (BRS) acting president KT Rama Rao reacted to the news, acknowledging the man’s bold actions and criticising the authorities. He posted on X, saying, “Tired of a 7-hour power cut and no support from the electricity department, local youth from Bayyaram climbed the pole and had to restore electricity. Very dangerous, but they had no choice due to the reckless behaviour of the authorities. I appreciate the youth for his reckless work, but it should not have to happen. The Power department and Discom seem to have no idea how to handle public issues.”

While the man’s efforts were successful, the incident highlights the risks citizens are forced to take due to negligence by authorities. Residents expressed concern about the reliability of the electricity department and questioned the safety protocols in place. The man’s actions, while effective, reflect the growing frustration and sense of helplessness within the community.

Despite the inherent risks, the man felt he had no choice. His actions have sparked debates about the state of the electricity department, with many questioning the competence of those responsible for maintaining essential services.

Officials from the electricity department were not available for comment at the time of publication. The incident has raised serious concerns about the management of public services and the safety of residents who are forced to resort to such extreme measures.
