Referring to the public outrage over the Badlapur sexual assault case, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SCP) supremo Sharad Pawar On Wednesday he said that the “people of Maharashtra “We want a change” as “there is a lot of unrest among the people.” The tremendous unrest among the people is due to the government’s apathy towards crimes in the state, Pawar said while talking to reporters at the party office in Mumbai on Wednesday.
“How strong is the reaction of the people when a serious incident occurs? An example of this was seen yesterday in Badlapur. This means there is a lot of unrest among the people,” Pawar said, according to ANI. He also expressed concern over the sexual abuse of two kindergarten girls at a school in Badlapur.

“Assembly elections are approaching. Meetings are being held. People of Maharashtra want a change,” Sharad Pawar was quoted as saying by ANI during an interaction with the media.
Pawar called the Badlapur molestation case unfortunate and said the subsequent protests are a testimony to the anger of the people. The public outcry showed that there was tremendous anger among the people as the government did not pay attention to the crime as it should have, the senior politician said.
“Yesterday I saw an example of how people react strongly. People want change and we want to change the state,” he added.
The Maharashtra state Assembly elections are due later this year. The Election Commission of India (ECI) on August 16 announced the schedule for elections in Haryana and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which will be held from September 18 to October 1. Meanwhile, the schedule for elections in Maharashtra is yet to be announced.
