Tenant’s post about kind elderly landlord sets internet abuzz

Bangalore: A tenant’s post about his elderly landlord in Bengaluru has melted the hearts of netizens.

Sharing his experience on Reddit, the tenant, who has been living in the landlord’s building for the past five years, narrated a touching moment that brought a smile to his face.

The post read: “My owner invited me to dinner today, this is a very special moment for me and I wanted to share what a great guy my owner is,” she continued.

In the post, the tenant described a recent incident where his 65-year-old landlord unexpectedly arrived at his door with a package of dinner in hand. This simple yet genuine gesture left the tenant deeply touched.

He went on to praise the landlord, describing him as a fit and socially active person who had never asked for a rent increase during his tenancy.

“He’s over 65 and I’ve been living in his building for five years. Just today he showed up at my door with a package and told me he’d invited me to dinner. I couldn’t stop smiling. No one his age has ever been so nice to me,” she added.

The tenant further wrote that there has been no increase in rent since 2018. He also wrote that his landlord often told stories, shared his life experiences, and spoke proudly of his daughter.

One user commented: “I have a landlord who hasn’t raised my rent since 2012.”

Another person said: “This is so sweet! My landlady offered to help me and my friends unpack and offered to send us lunch when we first moved in in 2016. Luckily, the cook from the previous house had made a huge box of biryani for us. The rent has been negotiated at least twice over the past 8 years so as not to put us in a tough spot, although it was always a 5-7% increase per year.”

One comment read: “It’s very rare to get a good landlord in Bangalore.”

One user commented: “My landlady has been very good to me and my roommate since I moved into her flat in 2017. It’s been 8 years and she’s only raised the rent by 1000.”
