A case of acid attack on a girl has come to light in Bhot Bagan area under Belur police station. While she was sleeping at night, someone from outside threw acid on her and she ran away. One of her hands, back and part of her face have been partially burnt. He was taken to TL Jaiswal Hospital. From there he was referred to the district hospital and later to MR Bangur Hospital in Kolkata. Doctors say that the girl is out of danger. But her hand and a large part of her back are burnt. Meanwhile, after receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot and started investigating the matter. Till the time of writing the news, no one has been arrested in this case.
According to the information, the victim’s age is said to be 22 years old. Her father is an employee of the Bali Municipality. The victim’s mother said that all the family members had gone to bed at 11 pm on Wednesday. Six members were sleeping in the same room. The victim was also in the same room. Late in the night, around 1 am, the girl started screaming. The room was filled with smoke. After some time, it was discovered that someone from outside had thrown acid on the daughter’s body. On the other hand, hearing the screams, locals reached the spot. The police were informed.
The burnt girl was taken to hospital. Police pickets have been organised in the area following the incident, in light of the tension. Meanwhile, former councillor Riyaz Ahmed said that it has not yet been revealed who threw the acid. Police are scanning CCTV footage to identify the accused.
