The Allahabad High Court heard the petition seeking ASI to conduct a survey of Vujukhana area located in Gyanvapi complex. While hearing the review petition, the High Court has fixed September 9 for hearing. The court granted two weeks to Anjuman Intejamia Masjid to file a counter affidavit in this case. A counter affidavit has been filed in its favour. Time was sought for the reply of the petitioner Rakhi Singh. On this, the court gave time to the petitioner and fixed the date as September 9.
In the watch petition, Rakhi Singh, the main petitioner in the Shringaar Gauri case, challenged the District Court order. The District Court refused to intervene in the matter due to the Supreme Court’s order to maintain the status quo in Vazukhana. Her application was rejected. The petitioner claims that just as an ASI survey has been conducted in the entire Gyanvapi complex, similarly, except for the figure of Shivlinga, an ASI survey should also be conducted in the enclosed bath. This will reveal the true character of Vajukhana.
The inspection order for the Gyanvapi complex was first issued by the Varanasi Court. In 2022, a survey of the premises was conducted under the direction of the Court Commissioner. After a Shivalinga-like shape was found in the bath during the survey, the entire bath was sealed. The petitioner claims that except the Shivalinga figure, the entire Vajukhana should be inspected without causing any damage.
