This came as social media users speculated that the 42-year-old or Taylor Swift will attend the event to show their support for the Vice President.
“At home, watching and waiting for the historic speech from the Vice President. Focus on the win and register to vote. Don’t report rumors. FOCUS,” Beyoncé’s publicist said on Instagram. Swift, who recently wrapped up the UK leg of her ‘The Eras Tour’ this week, also skipped the event.
Speculation began after social media users, including some journalists, said that Democratic National Committee officials had reserved two slots for “surprise guests.” However, the event at Chicago’s United Center went ahead as scheduled and there were no special guests.
Fans of the singers were disappointed. “I guess George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, Jimmy Carter, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift ran out of time,” said one person on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“So… so… no Taylor Swift? No Beyoncé? What was all the fuss about?” asked another on the Elon Musk-led platform. “Wait. So there’s no Beyoncé?” a third was surprised.
