During his visit to Kyiv, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to children at the Martyrology exhibition, accompanied by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Highlighting the grave impact of conflict on the youngest and most vulnerable, Modi said: “Conflicts are especially devastating for young children.”

The visit of the Prime Minister, who arrived in kyiv after a nearly seven-hour journey from Poland, underlines India’s stance in favour of finding a peaceful solution to the war between Russia and Ukraine, which has been raging for over two and a half years. The war has had a tragic impact on civilians, especially children, who have been caught in the crossfire.

In an emotional message shared on X, Modi expressed his condolences to the families who lost their children due to the conflict. “My heart goes out to the families of the children who lost their lives and I pray that they find the strength to bear their pain,” he wrote.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi and President Zelensky are scheduled to hold both individual and broader delegation-level talks. The aim of these meetings will be to explore possible avenues for a negotiated settlement of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
