Minister of the Interior amit shah On Friday he pointed his guns at the Congress party after the latter announced its alliance with Farooq Abdullah‘s National Conference On the eve of the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Shah wrote: “The Congress party, which has repeatedly played with the unity and security of the country in its quest for power, has once again revealed its intentions to the country by forming an alliance with the Abdullah family’s ‘National Conference’ in the Elections in Jammu and Kashmir.”
“My 10 questions to the Congress Party and Rahul Gandhi on the promises made in the National Conference manifesto: 1) Does the Congress support the National Conference promise of a separate flag for Jammu and Kashmir again? 2) Do Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party support the JKNC’s decision to push Jammu and Kashmir back into the era of unrest and terrorism by restoring Articles 370 and 35A? 3) Does the Congress support promoting separatism again by talking to Pakistan instead of the youth of Kashmir?
“4) Is the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi once again supporting cross-border terrorism and fostering its ecosystem through the National Conference decision to resume “LoC trade” with Pakistan? 5) Is the Congress supporting the return of the era of terrorism, terror and lockdown by re-employing the family members of those involved in terrorism and stone-pelting incidents in government jobs? 6) This alliance has brought out the anti-reservation face of the Congress party. Does the Congress support the JKNC’s promise to end reservation for Dalits, Gujjars, Bakarwals and Paharis and do injustice to them again?
“7) Does the Congress want ‘Shankaracharya Mountain’ to be known as ‘Takht-e-Suliman’ and ‘Hari Parvat’ to be known as ‘Koh-e-Maran’? 8) Does the Congress support throwing the economy of Jammu and Kashmir into the fire of corruption once again and handing it over to a handful of families supported by Pakistan? 9) Does the Congress party support the JKNC’s policy of discrimination between Jammu and the Valley? 10) Do the Congress and Rahul Gandhi support the divisive thinking of the JKNC and its policies of giving autonomy to Kashmir?”
North Carolina seals agreement with Congress
As Jammu and Kashmir gears up for its first Assembly elections since it was designated a Union Territory, the Farooq Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) on Friday formalised a pre-poll alliance with the Congress party. This alliance was confirmed during a meeting at Abdullah’s residence on Thursday, which was attended by Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.
The NC-Congress deal covers all 90 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir, and seat-sharing arrangements have been completed for most constituencies. Omar AbdullahNorth Carolina Vice President John F. Kennedy said Friday that negotiations have successfully resolved the allocation of seats for most of the Assembly’s congressional districts. Talks are underway to resolve differences over some remaining seats.
“A consensus has been reached to a large extent. I can tell you that we have reached a consensus on the maximum number of seats out of 90. In some seats we are adamant and in some seats the local Congress leaders are adamant. There will be meetings today as well and we will try to sort out the rest of the seats to announce our candidates,” said Omar Abdullah.
