Maharashtra Bandh: In view of the Bombay High Court’s decision, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has appealed to the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi alliance to withdraw the bandh from Maharashtra. MVA has called for a bandh on Saturday (August 24) over the Badlapur issue. Sharad Pawar, in a post on social media platform X, said the bandh was called in exercise of fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution but the High Court should also be respected. In such a situation, he has appealed to withdraw the bandh. A division bench of Chief Justice DK Upadhyay and Justice Amit Borkar said the Maharashtra government will take all necessary steps to stop the bandh.

NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar tweeted that in view of the Badlapur incident, we had called for a statewide public bandh on August 24, 2024. This was an attempt to draw the attention of the government to this matter. This bandh fell within this range. He said that the Bombay High Court has ruled that the bandh is unconstitutional. Due to the time limit, an immediate appeal to the Supreme Court is not possible, so its withdrawal has been sought tomorrow. He said that the Indian judiciary is a constitutional institution and the bandh call should be withdrawn with respect to the order given.
