“We will vigorously defend the suit,” Infosys says of allegations against Cognizant

Cognizant sues Infosys:Indian information and technology giant Infosys has responded to a lawsuit filed by Cognizant in a Texas court in the United States alleging that the company steals trade secrets related to its health insurance software product.

Responding to the allegations, Infosys acknowledged the information regarding the lawsuit and made it clear that the company is ready to fight the suit “vigorously” in court.

“Infosys is aware of the complaint. We deny all allegations and will defend our position in court,” the company said in a statement.

The allegations relate to facets of Cognizant and QNXT’s TriZetto software, which are used by health insurance providers to automate and streamline administrative tasks such as claims processing, billing, care management and network management workflow.

According to Cognizant, Infosys has illegally extracted data from its databases and created competing software solutions.

In fact, the Teaneck, New Jersey-based company’s CEO Ravi Kumar S is also an Infosys veteran. Kumar has worked at Infosys as president and deputy COO for nine years and will leave the company in 2022.

Both companies compete in a high-revenue market for insurance software solutions, with each aiming to reach the $20 billion revenue mark.
