Husband gave triple talaq for praising Modi-Yogi, know what wife said

UP News: A news item comes from Bahraich, UP which has become the centre of discussion. In fact, after a newly married woman from the Muslim community praised the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the beautification of Ayodhya, an FIR was registered against her husband for allegedly giving her triple talaq and harassment by her in-laws.

Jarwal Road Police Station Inspector-in-charge (SHO) Brijraj Prasad informed about the matter that in her complaint, the victim mentioned the incident of August 5 in Ayodhya, in which after a mutual dispute, she was burnt with hot pulses and other allegations have been made. According to the SHO, though a reconciliation was reached between the two parties at Ayodhya Police Station on the same day (August 5), later the matter of triple talaq and death threats came to light. Quoting the victim, he said that she was going to Ayodhya Police. She went to the police, but the case was not registered there. It is not known why this happened.

Where is the issue?

SHO said the victim’s maternal house is on Jarwal Road in Bahraich. On Thursday, based on her complaint, legal action will be initiated by registering a case against eight people, including her husband Arshad, mother-in-law Raisha, father-in-law Islam, sister-in-law Kulsoom and brothers-in-law Faran and Shafaq, Simran’s sister-in-law, under serious sections including the Dowry Prohibition Act. Police sources said a case has been registered against eight accused at Jarwal Road police station in Bahraich under the Dowry Prohibition Act and the Muslim Women (Protection of Marriage Rights) Act.

On Thursday, a video also appeared on social media in which the woman can be heard saying – On December 13, 2023 Ayodhya I was married to Arshad, son of Islam, a resident of Mohalla Delhi Darwaza, Kotwali Nagar. My father married me with the consent of both parties and spending more than his capacity. In the video, the woman says that after marriage, when I went out to the city, I liked the roads of Ayodhya Dham, the beauty of ‘Lata Chowk’, the development and the climate there. In front of my husband, I praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Why did the husband express strong discontent?

The woman said that on hearing this, her husband expressed strong displeasure and sent her back to her maternal home. Her parents forced her to reconcile with her in-laws, after which she returned to her in-laws’ house. According to the complaint, at her in-laws’ house, her husband told her, “You are crazy. There have been more police stations. You can make as many laws as you want, but I give you ‘talaq, talaq, talaq.’ The woman alleged in the video that her mother-in-law, younger sister-in-law and brothers-in-law strangled her and then all of them, including her husband, beat her up and threw her out of the house. She also alleged that her husband poured hot dal on her, due to which her face was burnt. According to the woman, she reached her home. The victim also filed a complaint at the Chief Minister’s Portal. In it, she alleged that her husband Arshad was pressurizing her to get some money.
