Amazon India on Saturday, August 24, announced a reduction of up to 12 percent in selling fees across multiple product categories on its marketplace ahead of the festive season.

“With the changes, sellers on Amazon India will benefit from a reduction in selling fees, ranging from 3 to 12 percent, across several product categories,” PTI The report said citing Amazon India.
The new changes to the rate card will primarily benefit products that cost less than ₹500, he said.
“At Amazon, we strive to support businesses of all sizes, from small and medium-sized enterprises to startups and established brands. The fee reduction is in direct response to feedback from our sellers, especially small businesses,” the report said, quoting Amit Nanda, director of selling partner services at Amazon India.
However, the company clarified that the changes are not temporary and will be effective beyond the holiday season as well.
“While the timing of the fee reduction coincides with the festive season, Amazon stresses that these changes are not temporary measures. The fee reduction will provide sellers with the opportunity to optimize their operations in time for the Diwali shopping rush and set the stage for sustained success well beyond the holidays,” the report said.
“Sellers, particularly those selling affordable products, will experience a significant reduction in fees on Amazon. This will give them the opportunity to reinvest in their business to accelerate their growth,” Nanda said, as quoted by the report.
According PTIAmazon also stated that as a marketplace, it has no role in setting or changing prices, as these are up to the seller. However, the latest reduction in selling fees will allow for growth and further expand the product portfolio.
