BJP wants to postpone Haryana Assembly elections, knocked on ECI’s door

Haryana Assembly Elections: BJP has written a letter to the Election Commission regarding the Haryana Assembly elections. In which it has requested to postpone for some time the assembly elections scheduled for October 1. Citing holidays before and after the date of elections, the party has said that this may reduce the voting percentage.

Citing public holidays, the BJP demanded postponement of the elections.

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Aggarwal confirmed that the commission had received a copy of the letter via email on Friday. Aggarwal said that we have received a letter from the state BJP and have forwarded it to the Election Commission. Varinder Garg, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state election management committee, said that we have argued that there is a holiday weekend before the assembly poll date on October 1 and a few holidays after it, which may affect the polling percentage as people go on vacation on long weekends. We have written a letter to the Commission in this regard. To get a better polling percentage, any new date after the holiday series is over would be appropriate.

The list of holidays is as follows.

Saturday (September 28) is a holiday for many people, while Sunday is also a holiday. There is an election holiday in the state on October 1, followed by Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, which is a holiday and October 3 is also a holiday due to Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti.
