The accused has been identified as Aniruddha Modanlal, according to a press release.
Modanlal operated a channel on the social media platform Telegram where he used to receive money from candidates on the pretext of providing them with the leaked questionnaire of the ongoing election process. UP Police Recruitment Exam.
He remained in touch with Abhay Kumar Srivastav, the alleged mastermind behind the scandal. On Srivastav’s orders, Modanlal opened the Telegram channel and asked candidates to pay Rs 100,000 for the leaked question papers.
After receiving the money in his account, Modanlal withdrew it and shared fake questionnaires with them.
STF officials, who remained vigilant in the ongoing investigation, identified the channel and subsequently arrested the accused.
Meanwhile, efforts are on to arrest the channel’s mastermind, officials were quoted as saying by PTI.
Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Exam 2024 The exam began on August 23 amid tight security across the state. The exam was scheduled to be held on February 17 and 18 but was later cancelled due to a document leak.
On Saturday, lakhs of candidates appeared for the exam at various centres across the state. After Saturday, the exam will be held on Sunday (August 25), August 30 and 31, at 1,176 centres across the 67 districts of the state.
As part of this mega recruitment drive, 60,244 posts of constables are expected to be filled in the Uttar Pradesh Police.
Over 48 lakh candidates across 28 states and eight Union Territories have applied for the written re-examination, officials said.
Around 9.5 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam on each of the five days, state government officials said, adding that elaborate security arrangements have been put in place at all examination centres to prevent use of unfair means.
