Strict laws on crimes against women are being drafted, read what the Prime Minister said

PM Modi said in Jalgaon that the work that the Modi government has done for women in 10 years, no government has been able to do since independence. Women self-help groups were given loans of less than Rs 25,000 crore till 2014, while in the last 10 years they were given Rs 9 lakh crore.

Those who commit crimes against women will be given strict punishment: PM Modi

Amid the incident in Kolkata, PM Modi said that we are strengthening laws to impose strict punishments on those who commit crimes against women. He said that the new laws provide for death penalty and life imprisonment for sexual offences against minors. Many cases of fraud in the name of marriage with daughters have come to light. There was no clear law in this regard earlier. Currently, false promises of marriage and deception are also clearly defined in the Judicial Code of India. I assure you that the Central Government is with the State Governments in every way to stop atrocities against women. The Prime Minister further said that we have to remove this mentality from the Indian society.

Prime Minister interacted with Lakhpati Didis in Jalgaon

Prime minister Narendra Modi I spoke to ‘Lakhpati Didis’ in Jalgaon, Maharashtra on Sunday. ‘Lakhpati Didi’ are those women from self-help groups who earn one lakh rupees annually. The Prime Minister participated in a programme organised to honour 11 lakh new Lakhpati Didis. A group of women welcomed PM Modi in Jalgaon, after which he spoke to members of some self-help groups (SHGs).
