Omar Abdullah welcomes Amit Shah’s comment on NC Manifesto, says ‘I am grateful to Home Minister…’ | India News

New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah has welcomed Home Minister Amit Shah’s comment on the National Conference manifesto. Speaking during an election campaign in Ganderbal district, Omar responded to a question on Shah’s comments on the NC manifesto.

“I thank Amit Shah for mentioning the manifesto of a small party. It means that our campaign has caught his attention. I checked our manifesto after Shah’s remarks on X and found that none of the issues he mentioned are actually in our manifesto. However, it is a significant achievement for us that the Home Minister of the country has read our party manifesto,” Abdullah said.

Commenting on reports of Jamaat-i-Islami (JeI) contesting the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Abdullah said, “The beauty of democracy is that anyone can contest elections. I saw news that JeI was trying to get the ban on contesting elections lifted. Unfortunately, the government did not lift the ban even after the elections were announced. Now, there are reports that JeI is fielding independent candidates, which is a positive step. Let them present their manifesto and promises, and the people will decide whom they will elect.”

Omar addressed a public rally in Ganderbal district, where there are speculations that he might contest from two seats in Kashmir, possibly including Ganderbal. However, the party is yet to make any official announcement.
