Man dies after two-wheeler falls into 2.5-metre-deep well in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: In a tragic traffic accident,  A 36-year-old man died after his two-wheeler fell into an eight-feet-deep pit dug by the Highways Department on Siruvani Road near Coimbatore.

The deceased was identified as V Karthikeyan, who worked in an automobile accessories company.

According to officials, the incident occurred in Madampatti when the victim and the vehicle fell into an eight-foot deep well. The victim died on the spot after receiving head injuries.

Authorities said a case has been registered in this regard.

Earlier, a 74-year-old woman died after the SUV she was travelling in crashed into the side wall of the Chennai – Bengaluru Expressway (NH 44) overpass at Chettiyappanur village.

The deceased has been identified as P Kamatchi, a native of Bengaluru.

Kamatchi was travelling with six relatives from Bengaluru to visit his ancestral temple at Valapandal village near Arani town in Tiruvannamalai when the SUV they were travelling in, driven by Siva (28), veered off course and crashed into the side wall of an overbridge on the highway. The accident occurred around 7.30 am and police reported that the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, officials said.
