Yuvraj Singh wants Shikhar Dhawan to play in THIS league after retirement, shares special post for him

Shikhar Dhawan Dhawan ended his two-decade-long professional career and announced his retirement on Saturday (August 24). The former India opener began his career at the 2004 Under-19 World Cup and debuted for Delhi later that year. Six years later, Dhawan made his ODI debut for Team IndiaHis last ODI appearance was in 2022.

Social media was flooded with wishes for Shikhar after he made the big announcement. Yuvraj SinghShikhar’s former teammate also sent him a special message. The Indian legend invited the batsman to play in the League of Legends.

“Congratulations on a fantastic career, Jatt Ji! A pleasure to have shared a dressing room with someone as vivacious as you! You always made the most of every opportunity, giving more than 100% on and off the field,” Yuvraj wrote.

“Your fearless knocks, especially in your favourite ICC tournaments and your match-winning performances across formats have made you the true ‘gabbar’ that opponents feared! These are some rare feats and you should be proud of all that you have achieved. Welcome to the other side! Aao legends khediye Fare well bro! Rab rakha.”

Dhawan and Yuvraj did not play international cricket together for a long time. They were teammates at Sunrisers Hyderabad in LPI 2016 and 2017. The team led by David Warner won the title in 2016.

Yuvraj, who retired from Indian cricket in 2019, has played in few leagues in the last five years. The former Indian all-rounder recently captained India Champions and won the title at the World Legends Championship. India defeated Pakistan in the final.

It remains to be seen whether Shikhar decides to play in any Legends League or not. Players like Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Gautam Gambhir and many others have been part of different leagues since they retired from Indian cricket.

Dhawan played 34 Test matches, 167 ODIs and 68 T20Is. He was India’s leading batsman in the 2013 Champions Trophy (363 runs) and 2017 (338 runs). He also scored the most runs for the Men in Blue in the 2015 World Cup (412 runs).
