A man from Uttar Pradesh goes to the police station to lodge a complaint and ends up receiving Jalebis for the policemen

A Uttar Pradesh (ABOVE) the man went to a police station in open to lodge a complaint, only to end up receiving Jalebis first. Chanchal Kumar from Kanaur village was visiting the Bahadurgarh police station for his lost phone when the officers gave him a choice: receive a kilogram of Balushahi or Jalebi.

The incident occurred over the weekend, after Kumar lost his phone on Saturday night when he went to get medicine. After retracing his steps to try and find it, the owner of the device concluded that there was no way to recover his smartphone, except by calling the police for help.

“Chhota dukh chori, bada dukh thana”, the saying popularized by the film Ladies LaapataIn essence, it means that theft is not the biggest headache when the matter involves the police. This became true for Kumar when he went to the Bahadurgarh authorities to lodge a complaint.

A police officer at the police station reportedly made it a condition that he first receive sweets. Since bringing Jalebis to the police was the only way to get help, Kumar decided to go to a nearby shop and buy a kilo.

Potato Bribe

The incident came after allegations of bribery against a UP police officer that included an unusual demand for “potatoes”, which turned out to be a code word for a bribe. Sub-Inspector Ram Kripal Singh had allegedly demanded a bribe to solve a case, an investigation revealed from an audio recording, leading to his suspension.

Another Uttar Pradesh police officer has been suspended for demanding a cooler as a bribe. Manish Kumar Prajapati, who is posted in Mau district, is said to have asked a man’s wife for a cooler and a payment of Rs 6,000. Om Prakash Sharma, the individual in question, also accused the police officer of abusing his wife.

In recent years, filmmakers have faced scrutiny and fallout for portraying Uttar Pradesh authorities in a bad light. However, it seems they are digging their own grave.
