Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal will face Holland Greek Tallon Track in the first round of the US Open On Tuesday, he has been climbing the rankings over the past eight months, following his second round appearance at the Australian Open earlier this year by defeating Alexander Bublik. Unfortunately, he was eliminated in the first round of Wimbledon, where he lost to Miomir Kecmanovic in four sets.
Nagal is set to become the first Indian man in the last five years to compete in the singles event at all four majors in a year.
At the recent Paris Olympics, Nagal became only the second Indian player to qualify for the individual event in successive editions of the Summer Olympics since Leander Paes.
The US Open is the last major tournament of the year and will conclude with the men’s singles final scheduled for Sunday, September 8. After two successive first-round exits at the French Open and Wimbledon, Nagal will be looking to put on a better show on the hard courts of the US Open.
After Wimbledon, Nagal was eliminated in the round of 16 at the Braunschweig Challenger, the Swedish Open and the Austrian Open. He failed to make it past the qualifying round at the Cincinnati Masters and then was eliminated in the first round of the Winston-Salem Open.
Nagal and Griekspoor have never met before on Tour. The latter was eliminated in the second round of Wimbledon, lost in the round of 16 at the Swedish Open and was eliminated in the first round of the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Masters.

Nagal’s match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 am IST on Tuesday. The US Open will be telecast live on Sony Sports Ten 2 SD & HD and Sony Sports Ten 5 SD & HD television channels in India. US Open tennis matches will be available for live streaming on SonyLiv.
