Newly released K-drama Love next door has already managed to impress fans in its first four episodes. The Korean show starring Jung Hae In and Jung So Min premiered on Netflix on August 17. It has provided viewers with enough plot twists and highlights to last a week until new episodes arrive next Saturday.

Amidst all the standout moments of the show that relies on the amazing chemistry between its lead couple, there is something that fans got to see in its fourth episode that left them intrigued.

About Love Next Door

Love next door It follows the story of two high school friends who grew up together because their mothers were also childhood friends. Their troubled relationship continues even after Bae Seok-ryu (So-min) returns from the US after 10 years.

So far, the plot has clearly suggested that Choi Seung-hyo (Hae-in) has always had a crush on Seok-ryu, ever since they were teenagers, but he was never able to confess to her. Episode 4 shows how the two friends wrote letters to each other and buried them in a time capsule, promising to open it after 10 years.

Love Next Door – Time Capsule and Letters

While Seok-ryu wrote things to herself that made her embarrassed in the present, Seung-hyo was sure that in 10 years, she would definitely have confessed her feelings to her best friend. Unable to do that, she kept hiding the letter from Seung-hyo in the particular episode.

Although the audience only got to hear two lines of Seung-hyo’s letter in his voiceover, there is much more than what he actually wrote on the full page. Eagle-eyed fans have not dug up the full text of the letter from the show’s screenshot that reveals Seung-hyo’s main reason for becoming a swimming champion and how he viewed things in life back then.

According to him, she learned to swim to save Seok-ryu from drowning. It is shown that she is afraid of water and therefore does not know how to swim. She did this despite suffering from asthma.

“To Choi Seung-hyo, 10 years later… The fact that I need to write a letter like this is really childish. I did this because Bae Seok-ryu asked me to. I’ll just write whatever comes to my mind first. Maybe in 10 years, you’ve already played in the Olympics three times, right? You must have gone all around the world and are now a veteran swimmer. Since the Olympic medal is a gift from heaven, I’m not sure if you managed to get it or not, but I hope you’re not disappointed with the result. It’s enough if you enjoyed the process. Still, I can’t imagine. Ten years seems like too much. By then, I’ve probably confessed to Bae Seok-ryu, right? Honestly, I don’t know when I started liking him. We’ve been glued to each other since we were young. I may have started swimming because of asthma, but I think the real reason I want to be good at swimming was because of Seok-ryu. If Seok-ryu, “If someone who has “I’m afraid of water falling on her, I could save her at that time. Also at the tournament that even my parents didn’t attend, she came to see me skipping her exam. After meeting Bae Seok-ryu, I realized that there hasn’t been a time when I didn’t like her. But if my feelings are revealed, our relationship might be ruined. I don’t have the courage to do that. So instead of now, when we turn 20 and are adults, I hope I can tell her my feelings (SIC) by then.”

Love next door releases two new episodes every Saturday and Sunday.
