NCERT Report: NCERT has prepared a report to evaluate the class 12 results. This report has been prepared by NCERT’s ‘Parakh’ organisation. It has been said in this report that the marks (assessment) from class 9 to class 11 should also be added to the class 12 result. Also, vocational and skill-based courses should be promoted. These proposals have been made in a report ‘Establishing Equity in Education Boards’. In which it is suggested to include cumulative performance metrics. According to which, in the 12th result, there should be a weightage of 25 per cent from class 9, 20 per cent from class 10 and 25 per cent from class 11.
After almost a year of discussions with all 32 education boards, it has been suggested that vocational and skill courses should be made mandatory for all students. It has also been written in the New Education Policy that data management, coding, app development, artificial intelligence, music, art and craft, etc. should be made mandatory for holistic learning.
The report makes suggestions for monitoring teacher performance and also for improving school infrastructure. This includes ensuring the availability of clean drinking water, well-resourced libraries and adequate sports facilities to create an environment conducive to learning.
The report also suggests that Class 12 results should be divided into formative and summative assessments. Formative assessment will include self-reflection, student portfolios, teacher assessment, project execution and group discussions, while summative assessment will include mid-term and final examinations.
According to the report, 70 per cent formative and 30 per cent summative assessment in class IX, 50 per cent formative and 50 per cent summative assessment in class X, 40 per cent formative and 60 per cent summative assessment in class XI and 30 per cent formative and 70 per cent in class XII. Summative assessment should be conducted. It has been suggested to teach students from classes 9 to 12 on credit-based system.
