Elon Musk On Monday he shared a video showing the inside of Crust, TeslaIt’s new AI Training supercluster being built at their headquarters in Austin, Texas.unknownThe CEO, in an X post, described Cortex as “the new giant AI training supercluster being built at Tesla headquarters in Austin to solve real-world AI problems.”
The 20 seconds shorten provides a look inside the massive facility, revealing rows of servers packed with NVIDIA H100 GPUs. These powerful graphics cards are essential for training large language models (LLMs) like OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Google’s PaLM 2.

The video has been viewed more than 3.2 million times and has reminded people of the size of early computers. Many have pointed out that the evolution of technology seems to have come full circle with Cortex.

“Wow, that’s cool. It’s amazing how computers once were this size. Then, they shrank down to the phone and then to nanoscale. Now AI is large-scale computing again. I wonder if, over time, it will condense down too,” read one comment with images of room-sized computers.

Another user wrote: “Elon trains AI in Tesla HQ supercluster: ‘I’m in you’… ‘and we’re solving real-world problems.’”

Musk has already stated that Tesla’s supercomputer cluster will consist of around 100,000 H100/H200 GPUs with enough storage for video training of FSD (Full Self Driving) and Optimus, its humanoid robot. The Cortex supercluster is expected to be one of the most powerful AI training systems in the world.

This announcement comes shortly after Musk founded xAI, an AI research and development company that is attempting to develop safe and beneficial artificial general intelligence (AGI). The company aims to create “conscious AI” that can understand and reason about the world in a manner similar to human intelligence.

The development of Cortex marks a significant step forward in Tesla’s efforts to advance artificial intelligence and robotics. The company’s goal is to use AI to develop self-driving cars and humanoid robots that can assist people in their daily lives.
