The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella organisation of nearly 36 farmer organisations, called Kangana Ranaut’s comments “derogatory and factually incorrect”. The SKM also asked the MP to tender an unconditional apology to India’s farmers for her inappropriate and incorrect remarks and uphold the dignity of her office.

The Sikh community also demanded that the BJP take strict action against Kangana. Shri Guru Singh Samaj and the Sikh community in Indore protested against Kangana and demanded that she be stripped of the Padma Shri.

Death threats due to ’emergency’

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut is reportedly receiving death threats ahead of the release of her film ‘Emergency’. In the viral video, one person can be heard saying, “If you post this picture, the elders will wear slippers on you. Lafaa toh aapne liya. I am a very proud Indian. If I see you anywhere in my country and Maharashtra, I tell you not only as a Sikh and a proud Marathi, but all my Hindu, Christian and Muslim brothers will also welcome you with chappals.

Kangana reacted to the video on her X account and asked the police for help. Her tweet read, “Please look into this @DGPMaharashtra @himachalpolice @PunjabPoliceInd.”

Congress, AAP Slam Kangana

Leader of the congress Raul Gandhi He accused the BJP-led central government of not only failing to fulfil promises made to farmers but also insulting them.

Responding to Kangana’s remarks, Gandhi said in a post on X: “The fact that the BJP MP has termed the farmers who sacrificed 700 comrades during the 378-day marathon struggle as rapists and representatives of foreign forces is yet another proof of the BJP’s anti-farmer politics and intentions. These shameful anti-farmer remarks are a grave insult to farmers across the country, including western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab, which cannot be accepted under any circumstances.”

“The government committee formed at the time of withdrawal of the farmers’ movement is still in the deep freeze, the government has not been able to clarify its stand on MSP till date, no relief has been given to the families of the martyred farmers and furthermore, their defamation continues. The betrayal of the farmers by the Modi government cannot be hidden by disrespecting the food suppliers and attacking their dignity. No matter how much Narendra Modi and the BJP conspire, INDIA will ensure legal guarantee of MSP for the farmers,” he added.

Subtly mocking Mandi MP, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala I asked him, “Get well soon.”

Surjewala wrote on X: “After all, why do BJP people hate the country’s food suppliers so much? The BJP has always lied, cheated, conspired and oppressed our farmers. And yet again, a BJP MP has made baseless allegations against our food suppliers. The question is, has Kangana made this cheap allegation against farmers as per the BJP’s election strategy?”

The Congress leader, who hails from Haryana, also asked, “Were these words only from Kangana or did someone else copy them? If not, why are the Prime Minister of the country, the Chief Minister of Haryana and all the BJP MPs and legislators silent on this issue?”

He said that the BJP termed the farmers’ martyrdom as a normal death and has not even passed a condolence resolution till date.

Notably, Ranaut has been a strong critic of the farmers’ protests against the three now-repealed farm laws.
