“We had a lot of players that we had no records for,” Naqvi said. “This Cup will strengthen domestic cricket, we will have a pool of 150 players, and then the surgery that we need to have done, will be done by the selection committee. People said ‘do everything today, cut the throats of four or five players and get rid of them’. You can’t sack someone unless there is someone better to replace them.

“Of these 150 players who have been selected, 80% have been done by AI (Artificial Intelligence) and 20% by humans. No one can question it. We gave a 20% weightage to our selection committee. If we replace a player with a worse one, you will be the first to complain. We will have records and we will all be able to see in a transparent way who deserves a place in the team,” he said.
