It has more features than other portable blenders we tested, such as an LED light that flashes in different colors to indicate different messages, such as the container and base not being aligned properly.

You don’t need to hold down the button to blend, either: When you press the power button, it starts a 30-second blending cycle that delivered a super-smooth consistency to our drink.

It’s an innovative piece of technology that we really like and means you only have to worry about charging one battery, but it does make it the most expensive handheld mixer on this list.

With a sleek look and an attractive matte black finish, this model impressed us as soon as we took it out of the box. It’s a slightly bulkier model, so wouldn’t be as suitable for taking on trips, but would be great for versatile use around the house. We were impressed with how powerful it was for a portable blender, and our smoothie blended really well without too many seeds.

This portable blender from Cuisinart has a silver finish and a sleek cup design that tapers at one end. It’s a little larger than some of the other portable models we tested, but would be great to use in different areas of the kitchen or if you’re hosting a backyard gathering to make pizzas or have a barbecue.

When making a smoothie, we recommend adding a little liquid to the blender before adding the frozen fruit and a little more liquid as we find this to be the most effective for blending. We found that if we added the fruit first, it got stuck further away from the blades and it was difficult to get everything smooth.

Nutribullet is probably the most well-known brand in the world of blenders and this model is their answer to a portable blender. This blender is compact and lightweight, with a 370 ml glass, just the right amount to prepare a single serving of smoothie.

The low voltage takes a little while to get going compared to stationary blender models we’ve tested, but overall we were impressed with the power this pocket blender produces. Once we added a bit more liquid, the end result had few lumps and was easy to transport in the jar using the lid attachment.

Laura Ashley’s appliances are pretty unique when it comes to design. They’re decorated with the brand’s well-known blue floral print on a white background. Whether you have the full set or are looking for an appliance that stands out from the crowd, this one will look perfect in a country-style kitchen. With a super compact size and a 450ml jug, this blender is small enough to be easy to store away. It comes with a USB charging cable and a display that shows how much charge is there.

Sadly, this blender didn’t have the power we found in other models and struggled to incorporate the frozen fruit into our smoothie. As there’s no indication of maximum quantities on the jug, we found it a little difficult to judge, but we found in testing that it worked best with less frozen fruit than usual and more liquid to ensure everything was well incorporated. Once we got the hang of this, we found our drink was smooth with no visible blueberry seeds or peels.

The choice of a portable blender depends on what you plan to use it for. Portable blenders are cordless, so they can be very useful if you have a limited number of electrical outlets in your kitchen or if you want to cook in more remote areas, whether that’s having a barbecue in the garden or making cocktails on the beach.

Portable blenders can also be useful if you’re a busy person who’s often on the go, but you like to be able to take everything you need to make a healthy snack with you. Since these blenders are perfect for making smoothies, if you like to go straight from the gym to the office, a portable blender could be a great option for making your breakfast.

You can definitely put frozen fruit in a portable blender. However, since portable blenders have a much lower power wattage than their larger counterparts, it means you have to be a little careful about how much frozen fruit you put in.

In terms of ratio, we recommend putting in about twice as much liquid as frozen fruit to ensure it blends properly.
