Senior IPS officer B Srinivasan was on Tuesday appointed as Director General (DG) of the National Security Guard (NSG).

Srinivasan is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from Bihar, batch of 1992.

He will take over as Director General of NSG after Nalin Prabhat leaves to be posted as Special Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir.

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Srinivasan as Director General, NSG, from the date of joining the office till August 31, 2027, i.e. the date of his superannuation,” according to an order from the Personnel Ministry.

Earlier this month, the Union government had shortened Prabhat’s tenure as NSG director general and facilitated his inter-cadre deputation from Andhra Pradesh to the Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre for an initial period of three years.

“Inter-cadre deputation of Prabhat, IPS from Andhra Pradesh to AGMUT cadre initially for a period of three years from the date of joining AGMUT cadre or until further orders, whichever is earlier, on relaxation of inter-cadre deputation guidelines,” the order stated.
