To provide a major relief to the farmers, the state government of Jharkhand has once again initiated Birsa Pradhanmantri Fasal Bima Yojana, through which farmers will get the security cover of crop insurance for just one rupee. This scheme is especially important as no crop insurance scheme was implemented in the state for the last two years. Keeping in mind the needs of the farmers of the state, this scheme has been implemented again.

This will come as a major relief to farmers. Now farmers can avail insurance benefits on five major crops of Kharif and Rabi seasons by paying a premium of just Re 1. For example, under this scheme, crops like paddy and maize can be insured in the Kharif season along with crops like gram, wheat and potato in the Rabi season. Farmers will have to pay a premium of just Re 1 for this. The government has implemented this scheme for the current Kharif year and the Rabi year 2025-26. This scheme will be implemented by the Government of Jharkhand.

Birsa Pradhanmantri Fasal Bima Yojana 2024 Updates

• Birsa Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana has been launched for the 2024 Kharif season.
• In this regard, the ITDA Project Director has written a letter to the Block Development Officers.
• Under the scheme, insurance of Aghani and Bhadai paddy crops will be done online.
• The last application date for this is August 31st.
• Online application camps will be organised at all Panchayat buildings from August 22 to 31.
• These camps will run daily from 10am to 5pm.
• Panchayat Chief, Lampas Chairman/Manager, Civil Servants, ATM/BTM, Krishak Mitra, Cooperative Extension Officer and all CSC/BLD representatives will be present in these camps.
• A target of receiving applications from 53,500 farmers in East Singhbhum district has been set.
• The target of 8,000 farmers has been set in Jamshedpur block, 10,000 in Baharagora, 5,000 in Ghatshila, 5,000 in Musabani, 3,000 in Patmada, 3,000 in Dhalbhumgarh, 3,000 in Dumariya and 2,500 farmers in Gudabandha block.
• Block agriculture officer in charge of Chakulia, Shivanand Ghatwari, said farmers have started online registration from Thursday.
• He said under this scheme, crop insurance can be done at a premium of just Re 1 per acre.

Birsa Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana 2024 is a major scheme launched by the Government of Jharkhand to protect the crops of farmers. The aim of this scheme is to provide financial security to farmers against crop losses caused by natural disasters, pests and diseases. Under the scheme, farmers are given the option of taking crop insurance at a premium of just one rupee, so that they can get adequate compensation in case of crop loss.

Key Features of Birsa Pradhanmantri Fasal Bima Yojana 2024

• Applicable for Kharif and Rabi seasons of 2024.
• Insurance is available for crops such as rice, corn, chickpeas, wheat and potatoes.
• In case of crop loss, compensation of Rs 70,000 per acre for paddy and Rs 50,000 for maize will be provided.
• The state government has nominated three major agencies to provide crop insurance: Future General Insurance, HDFC and ICICI Lombard.
• All farmers, whether they have obtained loans from KCC or not, can avail the benefits of this scheme.
• The last date to obtain Kharif crop insurance is August 31, 2024.

Compensation amount and plan information

Under the Birsa Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, if 80% of farmers’ crops are damaged, they will be provided Rs 70,000 per acre for paddy and Rs 50,000 for maize as compensation. The state government has selected three major agencies for crop insurance. The task of providing insurance to farmers in Deoghar has been entrusted to Future General Insurance India Company Limited.

Whereas, HDFC has been entrusted with the responsibility of securing the districts of Garhwa, Koderma, East Singhbhum, Sahibganj, Palamu, Ramgarh, West Singhbhum and Lohardaga. ICICI Lombard will take care of the insurance in Godda, Bokaro, Latehar and Chatra districts. Additionally, Dumka, Giridih, Seraikela Kharsawan, Pakur, Ranchi, Jamtara, Simdega, Hazaribagh and Khunti districts will be secured by Bajaj Allianz.

All farmers in the state can apply for this scheme, whether they have taken a loan under KCC (Kisan Credit Card) or not. The last date for getting Kharif crop insurance has been fixed as August 31. At present, there are 13 lakh farmers in the state who have availed the KCC benefit, so banks have been directed to ensure insurance for all farmers before the stipulated deadline.

2. Visit your nearest bank branch, Pragya Center (CSC) or authorized insurance office.
3. If you wish to apply online, please visit the PMFBY (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana) portal and fill in the required information there.
4. Submit all required documents along with your application. If you are applying online, please upload scanned copies of the documents.
5. Pay the premium to avail the insurance. You will get information about the insurance amount and premium at the time of application.
