The bypass at Kukuda Gate needs to be repaired and a flyover should be constructed soon.

Bandamunda. Construction work of an overbridge is going on near Kukuda Railway Gate on the Bisra-Bandamunda main road. A bypass has been constructed at this place by the contracting entity carrying out the construction work for movement of people. But the condition of this dilapidated bypass road has become so bad during the rains that it is quite dangerous to pass through it. On Wednesday, Bisra Nagrik Manch staged a peaceful protest under the leadership of former MLA George Tirkey demanding repair and construction of the flyover soon. After this peaceful protest which lasted for about three hours, a memorandum was submitted to ARM Bandamunda, Station House Officer, Bisra, Additional Tehsildar Bisra. At the event, Bisra Sarpanch Suraj Naik, Bandamunda Sarpanch Anita Tirkey, Bhaalalata Sarpanch Bicha Minj, Santoshpur Sarpanch Rajkumar Kerketta, Kapatmunda Sarpanch M Lakra along with Tariq Aziz, Pradeep Routrai, Suresh Ekka, Sujit Lakra, Malku Singh, Jena Toppo, Parvez Akhtar were present.

Wells become deadly, people are injured when they fall

The protesters alleged that the rainwater accumulated in the ditch on this road is proving fatal for pedestrians. Every day people fall into it and get injured. A week ago, a bus and a road got stuck in a ditch at this very spot at night. Due to which there was a traffic jam for an hour. Despite continuous complaints, the district administration and the contractor did not take any action. In such a situation, a large number of villagers including from Bisra and surrounding areas came together and demonstrated on Wednesday near the Kukra railway gate on the Bisra-Bandamunda main road in connection with the dilapidated bypass road.

If the demands are not met, we will protest strongly.

Former Birmitrapur MP George Tirkey said that this gate is built on the Mumbai-Howrah main railway route. Many trains pass through here. So the gate here remains closed for hours. The flyover work being constructed here should be completed soon. Apart from this, the road leading from this gate to Jarikela also needs to be repaired. We have only taken out a symbolic demonstration today. If the railway administration and the government do not accept our demands, there will be a strong agitation in the coming days.

Relatives are reluctant to come.

Rajesh Rajuka, a resident of Bisra, said that we have to go to Rourkela for medical treatment and other important works. But due to the poor condition of the road, we are facing problems. There is a request to the new state government and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi that besides completing the flyover work soon, the road in Bisra area should also be repaired. The road from near Kukuda gate to Bisra is so bad that even relatives have been reluctant to come to our house. Tariq Aziz Ansari said that vehicles get damaged due to bad roads during the rainy season. At the same time, the Kukura railway gate is also kept arbitrarily closed for a long time. Due to which there is a traffic jam. Our demand is that this gate should be closed for 15 minutes.
