Preparation to stop irregularities in internal assessment marks for classes 6 to 12, know what is CBSE’s plan, Education News

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has prepared a plan to prevent irregularities in marks in internal assessment of science subjects from Grades 6 to 12. The Board, in collaboration with the British Council, has developed a framework to address the issues of sharp swings and possible excessive margins in internal assessments. This information has come to light after details of the board’s governing body meeting held in June were made public. Details of the meeting also revealed that the board is also considering CCTV recording of classes at examination centres where there is a risk of irregularities in the examination. CBSE will create a framework for benchmarking and revision of standards. The internal assessment framework will be as per NCFSE i.e. the National Curriculum Framework.

According to the Indian Express report, this proposal includes directing schools to install CCTV cameras in classrooms. Some of the expenses will be borne by CBSE. There is also talk of setting up a data bank at the CBSE headquarters. On the day of the exam, each examination centre will be able to deposit CCTV footage in this data bank through a web link.

This proposal will be implemented from the 2025 exam. A committee will also be formed to handle the necessary infrastructure, its implementation, IT systems and data collected from schools.

The proposal states that initially, as a pilot project, at least 30 percent of the centres in an area may be included in it. It may subsequently be extended to all centres.
