The names of the candidates will be finalized in the CEC meeting. Only the Central Election Committee will take the final decision on the possible candidates for the assembly elections. Earlier, a meeting of the BJP Core Committee was held in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Assembly elections will be held in Haryana on October 1. The BJP may announce the names of its candidates for 90 seats today or tomorrow. The BJP may finalise the names of its candidates at the CEC meeting. Before the CEC meeting, the Haryana selection committee had finalised three names for 60-70 seats.

BJP suffered a defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections

The BJP’s seat tally has declined in the recently held Lok Sabha elections. Five seats went to the BJP’s tally, the remaining seats went to the Congress’ tally. Whereas, in the last Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

How did the BJP perform in the last Haryana Assembly elections?

In the last Haryana Assembly elections, the BJP won a maximum of 40 seats. The Congress had won 31 seats. It became the main opposition party. The Jananayak Janata Party won 10 seats. While independent candidates won seven seats. At the same time, the Indian National Lok Dal won one seat and the Haryana Lokhit Party won one seat. After the elections, the BJP formed a coalition government with the JJP. However, the alliance broke down due to a disagreement on seat sharing in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
