Noida International Airport: Noida International Airport, which is gearing up to start commercial operations in April next year, will apply for an aerodrome licence in December after completing its verified flights. Noida International Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann said that domestic and international airlines have shown keen interest in the airport. Apart from domestic airlines serving domestic and international destinations, there is also keen interest from international airlines in choosing Noida as a destination. Domestic airlines Indigo and Akasa Air have signed an agreement with Noida International Airport.
Noida International Airport has a capacity of 1.2 million passengers.
Noida International Airport will have the capacity to handle 1.2 million passengers in the first phase. It is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL). Its construction started in November 2021.
Flights to the landing system will take place in September and October.
YIAPL COO Kiran Jain said the Airports Authority of India will operate flights for the instrument landing system here in the months of September and October. Jain said check flights will be conducted in December to decide the procedures related to the movement of aircraft. Once those flights are completed, the airport operator will file an application for an aerodrome licence. Airport officials said most of the work on the runway has already been completed.
What is special about Noida Airport?
In the first phase, the airport will have one terminal, one runway, 10 aerobridges and 25 parking spaces. It was previously expected to start operating in September this year, but due to the delay in construction, it is likely to start in April 2025.
