At a programme organised on the theme ‘Role of Women in Developed India’ at Bharti College, University of Delhi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, mentioning the role of women in the development of the country, said that education is the key to lock and open the doors of development. Addressing the girl students, he said that Mahatma Gandhi had said that if you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate the entire family. The present time is a turning point in the history of the country. In such a situation, everyone should make people aware of the achievements of the country.
The country will soon be ahead of Japan and Germany in terms of economy.
The Vice President said that women are currently performing as entrepreneurs and also providing employment to others. Due to women empowerment, India will rank third in terms of economy in the next two to three years. Countries like Japan and Germany will lag behind India. One-third reservation for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies will be a game-changer. This initiative will bring a revolutionary change in the policy-making process. The Vice President expressed concern over the craze of students for government jobs and coaching institutes. He said that it is sad to see advertisements for coaching institutes on the pages of newspapers. Because the money for advertisements comes from the pocket of students. If the country wants to develop, girls will have to come forward. Girls have a lot of potential. Half of the population of the country is the backbone of the rural economy and the agricultural sector. Chairing the programme, Professor Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor, University of Delhi, said that Delhi University has secured the sixth position in the recently released National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). This is much better than last year. The Vice-Chancellor also expressed concern over the situation of women safety in the country and urged everyone to make efforts to create a better environment for women.
